In collaboration with our fabulous sponsor, Toon Boom Animation, the Okanagan International Festival of Animation (OkIFA) is set to hold an exciting Student Signal Film Competition for our inaugural 2018 festival.
Using Toon Boom Harmony Premium software, which will be provided to them courtesy of Toon Boom, students who enter will submit a one-minute signal film into the competition. The winning one-minute entry will be named OkIFA’s Signal Film and it will be shown prior to each feature screened during Student Day screenings. Second and third place films will also be screened once during the Student Day screenings.
The Festival team, our inexhaustible Executive Director, and our exceptional Board of Directors all understand how challenging it is to be an animation and digital media student – focusing on doing your best work to showcase your abilities, working on bringing your creative ideas to life, and always trying to figure out how to afford the best software so your talent can truly shine. With this in mind, in partnership with Toon Boom Animation, we will award six-month temporary licenses of Toon Boom Harmony to each student who enters the competition. A permanent license of Toon Boom’s latest Harmony Premium software will be awarded to winning student. If the winning film is produced by more than one person, each person on that film’s team will win a permanent license (up to seven licenses in total for the winning team).
Stay tuned for more information on this competition. We know we are going to see some incredible student signal films come out of this.
